Dr. Weinrieb came to Philadelphia in 1991 after completing his residency in adult psychiatry at St. Vincent’s Hospital of NY Medical College in Greenwich Village, NY. He then completed a Department of Veteran’s Affairs Fellowship in Addiction Medicine from the Penn/VA Center for the Study of Addictions in 1993. His responsibilities included having served as Medical Director of the Treatment Research Center for 7 years. He has served on the Penn Institutional Review Board for Human Studies, the Penn Medical School Student Standards Committee and the Standing Conflict of Interest Committee of the University of Pennsylvania. From his work as the consultant psychiatrist for the liver transplant team of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, which he implemented in 1995, Dr. Weinrieb became an NIH and VAMC grant funded investigator focusing his interests on the treatment of psychiatric and addictive disorders in solid organ transplant patients. His primary clinical and research interests focus on liver transplantation for people with Alcohol Use Disorders. Dr. Weinrieb has been the recipient of a number of research and teaching awards, including the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching from the University of Pennsylvania. He was the Director of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and the Psychiatric Emergency Evaluation Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 2006-2016 and is currently Chief Psychiatric Consultant for the Penn Transplant Institute and Program Director of an ACGME accredited Fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania/Penn VAMC, Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. Weinrieb founded and directs the only outpatient psychiatric clinic for transplant patients that treats their patients longitudinally. He thoroughly enjoys teaching and mentoring undergraduates, medical students, dental students, advanced practice nursing students, psychiatry and neurology residents.

Dr. Shroff completed his medical training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and then at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Upon joining faculty at UNC, Dr. Shroff has taken a special interest in alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) and established a new multi-disciplinary clinic called the Integrated Healthcare for Alcohol Use and Liver Disease (IHEAL) Clinic. The IHEAL Clinic pairs hepatologists with substance use counselors and addiction medicine physicians to deliver comprehensive care for patients with ALD. Dr. Shroff is also active in professional societies including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and the American Society of Transplantation (AST), where he actively collaborates with others around the United States on clinical research in ALD.

As a 3rd year Doctoral student at Widener University, Lynda is seeking her PhD in Health Professions Education with the focus on research of patients with advanced liver disease and alcohol use disorder. Lynda is a graduate of Drexel University as a master’s level clinician licensed in alcohol and drug counseling (LCADC) in the state of New Jersey and an advanced certified alcohol and drug counselor (CAADC) in the state of Pennsylvania. Lynda has worked with the liver transplantation center at the University of Pennsylvania, as a program developer and research consultant for alcohol use disorder and is currently developing the H.E.A.L. (Hope, Empower, Acceptance, Life) program at Jefferson Health’s department of liver transplantation, Einstein campus. In addition to my clinical role, Lynda is a national trainer for CLARE/MATRIX training institute, teaching a virtual evidence-based curriculum to treatment programs for criminal justice involved individuals, including adolescents and adults. Lynda’s work encompasses specialized populations including liver transplantation patients, and incarcerated individuals over the last 12 years. Lynda is certified in cognitive behavioral therapy and completed her certification in meditation instruction.
